Do work-from-home people actually work all day?
Work-from-home employees generally don’t work every single minute of an eight-hour day, but this can also be true for those in an office setting. Studies have shown that on average, employees in traditional office environments work actively for about three to four hours a day. The rest of the time often includes tasks like meetings, administrative work, and breaks.
Remote workers may also have flexibility, which can mean fitting in personal tasks throughout the day or structuring work hours differently. This flexibility, however, doesn’t necessarily mean they’re less productive; many remote workers find they get more done without the usual office distractions, like commuting, office interruptions, or unnecessary meetings.
